We are Joe and Linda Dannemiller. While searching for the perfect dog to add to our family, in 2005, we were introduced to the American Hairless Terrier. Of concern, was Linda's allergies and asthma, and we wanted a dog that could be a full member of our family. Everything we read about the American Hairless Terrier seemed too good to be true; it seemed a miracle. This breed is perfect for many individuals that are allergic to other breeds of dogs. They are smart, quick, energetic, very active, extremely loving and loyal. Much to our delight, Kiora joined our family in 2005. In early 2006, Rowen came to us and we began working in handling and obedience classes together, having so much fun with these amazing dogs.
Rowen took Best of Breed on his first weekend of showing and by the time we were at his second show, he became a Champion and earned one leg towards his Grand Championship. Even though our AHT numbers are sparse here in the Southwest, Rowen made UKC's Top Ten list in 2006 and remained there until December 2008. We have since added Macree and Malee to our family. In 2007, Rowen sired a litter with a beautiful AHT owned by Amanda Kalakoc and Aine', Rowen's daughter, entered our lives. In 2008, Rowen and Macree had puppies, our first bred-by litter. Out of that litter there were exceptional representations of the breed standard. Sparkles and Aiden both received numerous Best Puppy in Show. While in her first outing in the licensed class, not only became a Champion, but took four Best of Breeds. Like Aine', Sparkles is a UKC Merit Puppy. Aiden, taking a little longer to mature, recently became a Champion, and under the Honorable Mark Golden was awarded Best in Multi-Breed Show!
We are active in the American Hairless Terrier Association. Linda has been the Event Chair for the AHTA Specialty held at UKC's Premier for the past two years. Linda was also recently elected to the National AHTA Board. She also serves on the AHTA Health Committee. We are active in area clubs. Linda ring stewards, helps with entries, as well as helps in many ways for other clubs. We are founding members of the Caliente All Breed Dog Association
We anticipate breeding to produce our next show/performance prospect, but we will occasionally have puppies available to responsible and loving homes.
